Did you know that 9/10 people research homes on line prior to going out and looking at houses?
This means that you MUST grab their attention with your photos. I don't think anyone wants to take bad photos, but without proper training, knowing what to look for, or proper equipment most photos are doomed as soon as the photo is taken.
I have taken a few before and after photos to demonstrate what I am talking about. These photos were shot with the same camera, on a tripod. The before photos are taken with all the automatic settings, that most people would use. The after photos were taken with additional external lights, and lightroom processing.
The room now looks brighter and more inviting. When you brighten up a room it appears much larger. As well the room at the right is now well lit and opens up the whole photo.
Small rooms can be very hard to shoot! This room appears dark and the colour is off. Taking out some of the orange/yellow, correcting the distortion, and adding some lights makes it a much more appealing laundry room.
I was once told that "no one wants to live in an orange house Michel!" That may or may not be true, but no one wants to look at an orange/yellow photo of a house! This I do know...so I always correct for this.
Most light bulbs will have an orange , yellow or blue hue to them, so cameras will always pick this up.
This last photo has one of the most difficult issues that most photographers have to face, and that is metering for different light sources. You want to capture some of the view outside (as there are beautiful trees), but if you meter for that....the room is extremely dark. So this is where a professional photographer would be able to accommodate for multiple light sources.
Now you can see a few of the reasons why some photos look great and some don't. There are so many benefits to using a professional photographer; the most important being the ability to capture the beauty of your home. For a surprisingly low fee you can go from 'blah' to 'beautiful' and 'for sale' to SOLD!
